There was a time when health care in Phnom Penh was lagging behind that provided in neighboring capitals. However, recent years have seen a substantial improvement in the level of health care provided. With this in mind, here is our guide to finding a hospital in Phnom Penh.
Hospitals Near Kambol
Although there are no major hospitals in Kambol, the good news is that two of the best international hospitals in Phnom Penh are a short drive away.
In addition to having excellent shopping malls and supermarkets as well as a quality international school the Sen Sok area of Phnom Penh also has one of the capitals’ primary international quality hospitals. The Royal Phnom Penh Hospital raised the bar for heath care provision in the capital when it opened in the Toul Kork area, a 20-minute drive from Kambol. Royal Phnom Penh Hospital is part of the Thai Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS) Group that includes Bangkok Hospital.
Public Hospitals in Cambodia
The main public hospital in Cambodia is Calmette Hospital located on the Monivong Boulevard. This is a similar drive from Kambol as are Royal Phnom Penh Hospital and Royal Rattanak Hospital. This is the most likely hospital for you to be taken to in an emergency unless you have private health care. An alternative is the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital.
There are other smaller local hospitals and government referral hospitals, such as Pochentong Referral Hospital, close to the airport, and Ang Snoul Referral Hospital, both of which are close to Borey Williams.

While the quality of health care in Cambodia has improved considerably over the past decade, we still recommend that you take out private health insurance. Not only will this ensure that you receive the best treatment available, but it will also give you and your family peace of mind. Fortunately in Phnom Penh there are reputable health insurance providers to ensure there is no need for you to go uncovered.
