Phnom Penh is one of the most dynamic and vibrant cities in South East Asia. It has transformed from a sleepy backwater into a proper metropolis in the last twenty years or so. This means that when you move to the Cambodian capital, you can enjoy a rich and varied social life, as you would expect in a emerging city. In many respects this is best demonstrated by the emergence of cinemas in Phnom Penh. This is our cinema Phnom Penh guide.
Development of Phnom Penh Cinemas
Some 15 years ago the only way you could experience a Hollywood movie in Cambodia was by buying a dodgy CD in one of the many pirate shops around Phnom Penh. To see a movie in a cinema on a big screen you had to fly to Bangkok.
The few cinemas in Phnom Penh were faded gems largely showing Cambodian horror movies. Now, just down the road from Borey Williams you can find quality cinemas.
Cinemas in Kambol
Kambol is fortunate to be located close to some of the top Phnom Penh cinemas.
Just a 20-minute drive away in the popular Sen Sok area of town is a Major Cineplex located in Aeon Mall Sen Sok (Aeon 2).
Also twenty minutes away is Legend Cinema, located in the Chip Mong Mega Mall, on Street 271. The Prime Cineplex situated in Samai Square is an approximate 30-minute drive from Borey Williams.
These Phnom Penh cinemas offer a range of Hollywood and Asian movies, screened in excellent and comfortable rooms to an international standard.
Movies in the Comfort of Your Own Home
Of course, you don’t have to take a short drive to see the latest Hollywood movies. Settle down on your couch and watch Netflix on the high speed internet service available in your dream home in Borey Williams.
