We continue our journey through the various districts of the Cambodian capital with a visit to Khan Chbar Ampov, which in recent years has been a very popular area for borey development sites in Phnom Penh.
Where is Khan Chbar Ampov Phnom Penh?
Khan Chbar Ampov is located just across Chbar Ampov Bridge (Monivong Bridge) to the south of the capital. Despite being quite far removed from the downtown area, Chbar Ampov district has good connections to central Monivong and Norodom Boulevards. The area is dominated by a major Koh Norea reclamation project funded by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC). The intention of this is to create a satellite city. There are plans to build a bridge from Khan Chbar Ampov to Koh Pich (Diamond Island).
Borey in Khan Chbar Ampov
In recent years Khan Chbar Ampov has seen a number of large borey developments, especially the Borey Peng Houth Chbar Ampov from the Peng Huoth group. This includes Peng Huoth Boeung Snor, and Peng Huoth The Star Platinum. There are also some notable condo developments, such as Vue Aston on the opposite bank of Koh Pich.
Shopping in Khan Chbar Ampov
Apart from Chbar Ampov market the area has Boeung Snor Food Village, a modern quality retail park with outlets including Starbucks, Burger King, and other chain restaurants. It also has a Lucky Express for convenience shopping. Elsewhere The Park Community Mall has a Browns Coffee, Zando and U-Care pharmacy.
Amenities in Khan Chbar Ampov
Perhaps one of the most remarkable aspects of Khan Chbar Ampov is the Peng Huoth Euro Park, a European and leisure park spread over four hectares of land in Grand Star Platinum. There are also plenty of educational options with Southbridge International School (SISC) and Beltei School having opened here, as well as the Chbar Ampov Polyclinic providing quality health facilities.
Comparisons with Khan Kambol
Really Khan Chbar Ampov is a satellite city development rather that part of Phnom Penh, as such it offers very different attractions to Khan Kambol. However both areas benefit from having competitively-priced land available. Khan Kambol is well-located close to the popular Khan Sen Sok area of town. It is also closer to international hospitals and golf courses.
